Welcome to the online home of Unwashed, a creative writing and art journal based in Bay View, Wisconsin. Unwashed is a welcoming home to both new and established writers and artists. We hope to shine a light on all creative styles, from traditional to experimental and everything in between. We place no restrictions on the subject matter that we publish, but believe that best creative work comes from the heart or the gut. The creative life is not for the faint of heart, but if you have the courage to put yourself and your work "out there," then we want to hear from you.Established in January, 2023, annual issues of Unwashed have been published in 2023, 2024, and 2025. The submission periods for new issues begin on March 1st and end with the close of May 31st. Submission guidelines are provided below. We can't wait to see what comes our way. Submission Guidelines
Unwashed accepts creative writing and art submissions for its annual issues beginning March 1st and ending May 31st of each year.*Creative writing, including fiction, flash fiction, experimental fiction, and creative nonfiction - 1,500 word maximum, previously unpublished, no restrictions as to type, form or content. Maximum three pieces per submission.*Poetry - 1,000 word maximum, previously unpublished, no restrictions as to type, form or content. Maximum three poems per submission.*Art, including photography - black and white only, previously unpublished, no restrictions as to type, form or content. Maximum three pieces per submission.*Writing submissions should be submitted as Word or Google Docs files.*Art submissions should be submitted as PDF or JPG files.*All submissions should include a brief (~50 words), third person bio. Longer bios may be subject to editing.*We accept simultaneous submissions. However, please notify us immediately if your submission is accepted elsewhere.*All submitters are responsible for obtaining releases from any living persons appearing
in their works and do represent and attest by submitting such works to Unwashed that such
releases have been obtained.*Unwashed requires First North American Serial Rights and all archival rights. All rights revert
